Most collectors have a limited budget when they decide what Star Wars items to collect. Collectors benefit from researching the digital price guides so they can set expectations and get understanding about Star Wars figure values. Collecting is often said to be the long game and it helps to set goals on what your next acquisition is going to be, and how much you are going to need to pay for it. Knowing the collector market values of such items is half the battle.
Although Star Wars Tracker is mostly centred around the original line of Kenner Star Wars action figures from the 1970's and 80's it often comes as a surprise to new collectors that various countries around the world had their own licensee arrangements for distribution of these vintage toys.
To single out a few:
Some of these lesser known licensee distributors had very limited runs. As a consequence, they have originated some of the rarest and highly desired variations. Especially true if the original packaging bearing the unique licensee logos is included.
Obi-Wan Kenobi on Palitoy and Kenner Star Wars 12 back cards
Consider the image above - the Star Wars action figure is the same in both cases, an Obi-Wan Kenobi action figure. But one of the cards is from Palitoy and the other from Kenner. Can you guess which one is worth more?
By a significant amount, the Palitoy version is worth much more to a collector. At the time of writing (October 2022) a recent sale of the Palitoy Obi-Wan sold for a little over £4,200 while you can routinely expect to find a similar condition Kenner example for under £1,000.
Star Wars Tracker is in a league of it's own when it comes to providing licensee aware price guides. You can easily and quickly discover such gems of collecting information within. Other guides only focus on American Kenner material which is by far the most common vintage star wars memorabilia.
